Lucknow, Nov 28 (KNN) Union MSME Minister Kalraj Mishra is currently in the city to focus on roadmap for revival and rehabilitation of sick Khadi units and Gandhi Ashram. It has been PM Modi’s prime focus to boost khadi sale and promote the sector in a way ever since BJP came to power at the Centre.

Mishra would be chairing a meeting Lucknow for revival and rehabilitation of sick Khadi Units and Gandhi Ashram, he wrote on the micro blogging site twitter.
Mishra, on Friday, also wrote that Khadi Fashion Show 2015 attracted huge response in ITPO Delhi.

Recently the minister announced that the Government is planning to cover the artisans engaged Khadi production under the Mudra Bank Scheme with the view to improve their socio-economic condition.

"We have planned to cover the artisans engaged in Khadi production under Mudra Bank scheme to improve their livelihood and socio-economic condition," MSME Minister had said earlier this month.

Government is planning to double the production of Khadi by this initiative, Mishra said adding that as many as 11 lakh additional artisans will get employment.

The Minister said after Prime Minister appealed people to buy Khadi, their sale increased tremendously which increased scope of Khadi production and employment opportunity.

In October last year, Modi had advocated for use of khadi products as a homage to Mahatma Gandhi. He had impressed upon people to use at least one khadi product, may it be a handkerchief or even a bed sheet. (KNN Bureau)
