KANOHAR - 1st MSME & 3rd Indian Company To Have Successfully Passed Short Circuit Test on 500 MVA 400kV Transformer

Meerut, Oct 31 (KNN) In a significant milestone for the 'Make in India' initiative, KANOHAR, a pioneering SME based in Meerut, India, has achieved a ground-breaking achievement by successfully conducting Type Testing on a 500 MVA 400kV Autotransformer.

This accomplishment firmly establishes KANOHAR as the first SME and the third Indian company to achieve this remarkable milestone, following the lead of industry leaders BHEL and Toshiba.

The Type Testing encompassed a dynamic short-circuit withstand test carried out at the prestigious National High Power Test Laboratory (NHPTL), strictly adhering to the international standard, IEC 60076-5. This demanding examination evaluates the transformer's resilience under short-circuit conditions, a critical aspect of its operational safety.

The 500 MVA 400/220/33kV Autotransformer was meticulously designed and crafted at KANOHAR's state-of-the-art facility located in Meerut, within the Delhi National Capital Region.

This monumental accomplishment stands as a testament to the resounding success of both the 'Make in India' and 'Make in UP' campaigns championed by the Central and State Governments, emphasizing the prowess of domestic manufacturing and engineering capabilities.

KANOHAR is a distinguished player in the power equipment manufacturing sector and an eminent EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) contractor for substations and transmission lines.

Led by a team of highly skilled technocrats and a cadre of IITians, KANOHAR has now achieved a remarkable milestone, becoming the first Indian private sector company and, more notably, the third company overall to successfully conduct a Type Test on a transformer of this magnitude. The other two entities achieving this feat include a Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) and a Multinational Corporation (MNC).

Conducting a Type Test on a transformer with such a high rating is a momentous accomplishment and is regarded as an impressive technical achievement. What sets this endeavor apart is the fact that KANOHAR passed the test on its very first attempt, affirming the unwavering commitment to quality and reliability that defines KANOHAR transformers.

KANOHAR's transformer product range has undergone extensive Type Testing, with more than 200 ratings having successfully undergone the rigorous Dynamic Short Circuit test at third-party laboratories such as CPRI (Central Power Research Institute).

This extensive testing program makes KANOHAR stand out as a leader in transformer technology and perhaps holds the record for the largest number of short circuit tests performed by any manufacturer worldwide.

KANOHAR has expressed its gratitude to its clients, partners, and all those who have stood steadfastly by the company throughout this remarkable journey. This achievement not only reflects KANOHAR's unwavering commitment to excellence but also highlights the immense potential and capabilities of Indian SMEs in the realm of cutting-edge technology and engineering.
