Karnataka to put in place measures to support women business leaders

This was brought to light during the celebration of International Women Entrepreneurs’ Day on November-19 here, during which as many as 300 women participants, proficient in various areas of industry congregated for a convention, according to an official release from President, e-MERG (Engineering Manufacturer Entrepreneurs Resource Group), R Rajalakshmi.
During the event, participants were engaged in sessions of dialogue through which current scenarios were discussed and measures to nurture, and encourage industries of all sizes were established.
The highlight of the event was the launch of a report by eMERG that gave new insights into the current situation of women entrepreneurs.
In addition, officials from NSIC and SIDBI shared their schemes that support the development of women owned enterprises. The panel discussion that followed focused on strategies for implementation of policy and the areas of focus.
The UN initiative to recognize and foster growth among women has been echoed by Karnataka with talks for sensitization of banks, skill development, industrial parks with crèche facilities, transport, etc to be given importance.
Guest of honour and Commissioner for Industries and Commerce, Gaurav Gupta also shared his observations.
It was decided that a core group would meet once in 2 months to work on strategies for implementation and a road map for women entrepreneurs. (KNN/ES)
