KNN India Exclusive: PM Modi to announce mega package for Retailers

New Delhi, Nov 28 (KNN) After MSMEs, it is going to be the turn of retailers and traders to be showered with goodies.
A mega package is in the works to be announced soon by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to assuage the retailers bruised by twin shocks of demonetisation and GST.
Senior Government officials have been in consultation with trade and industry bodies such as FISME and CAIT to work out a policy response to address traders’ top concerns.
The package is likely to have an interest subvention scheme and an accidental insurance scheme for retailers. The government may also pick some cost to promote digital payments.
People familiar with developments told KNN India that Government may also announce formulation of a national retail policy.
However, Government is struggling to develop an appropriate policy response to address nervousness of retailers about e-commerce.
A plan to e-equipping retailers with hardware and software to participate in digital economy and e-commerce is on drawing board too. (KNN Exclusive)
