A memorandum of understanding was signed between KVIC CEO and Commissioner, B H Anil Kumar and RSETI Chief Project Coordinator, K N Janardhana here on Friday.
Minister of MSME, Kalraj Mishra, Secretary, Madhav Lal, Co-Chairman, National Advisory Council for RSETIs, Veerendra Heggade and officials of Ministry of MSME and KVIC were present on the occasion.
KVIC observed that many of the applicants under Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) are not possessing business skills and skills related to their projects. This also increases the rate of rejection of bank loan applications and affects the viability of the PMEGP project.
As a remedial measure, KVIC with the help of Monitoring Cell for RSETIs which monitors the bankers training institutes available in all the districts of the country will conduct entrepreneurship development programmes, said the ministry.
Under PMEGP, around 2.9 lakhs micro enterprises have been set up so far providing employment opportunities to 25.93 lakh persons.
The scheme has received encouraging response from all the stakeholders, namely unemployed youth, banks and implementing agencies like KVIC, KVIB and DIC.
There are 581 RSETIs/RUDSETIs in India and they provide skill development training, in more than 250 skills. RSETIs also provides handholding to the trainees for a period of 2 years which includes training, project formulation and handholding beyond bank sanction till setting up of the units, as well as monitoring for a period of 2 years after the unit is setup.
