New Delhi, Jul 26 (KNN)  With the new government set to implement its agenda of job creation at the grass root level, the  Khadi and Village Industries Commission has been dissolved and the reconstituted KVIC will be run more professionally.

"The government has dissolved the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) with effect from July 24," the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises said

All the members, including the chairman, will have to vacate their office with immediate effect.

The decision to dissolve the KVIC is " to make it more professionally competent, effective and efficient body for the development and promotion of Khadi and Village Industries and for generation of more employment opportunities in the rural non-farm sector,"  the statement said.

All the properties and funds, which immediately before the dissolution were in the possession of the Khadi and Village Industries Commission, will be owned by the Central Government.

KVIC has a huge network of a large number of MSMEs engaged with cottage industries like clothing, honey making, spices, herbs, handicrafts and the institution has a strong linkage with rural India.  (KNN/PC)
