KVIC signs MoU with Raymond to market Khadi at global level

Mumbai, Dec 7 (KNN) The Ministry of MSME in a tweet said that the Khadi & Village Industries Commission (KVIC) has partnered with apparel major Raymond with the view to market Khadi at a global level.

Raymond will now be sourcing all India variety of khadi from KVIC departmental sales outlets from Delhi and Mumbai, for over the counter sales as well as crafting readymade garments for its apparel brands.

In a tweet, KVIC Chairman V K Saxena said, “Historic MoU signed with Raymond, which will take Khadi on Global platform & generate 2 lac extra man hours for Khadi artisans.”

“Thanks to Mr Singhania,CMD, Raymonds Ltd for donating 50 Charkhas to KVIC under its Sahyog programme,” he added.

Raymond is planning to brand the product as Khadi by Raymond, and position khadi as a viable fashion fabric.

Raymond would also work on design interventions in the khadi manufacturing clusters across the country along with providing technical expertise.

The Khadi by Raymond will be available at KVIC outlets and Raymond stores across the country from February 2017.

Raymond has also agreed for a guaranteed minimum procurement of khadi and khadi products for five years with primary purchases of muslin cotton and silk.
