Learning no lessons from the past, J&K officials still ignoring poor infra of industrial areas

Srinagar, May 27 (KNN) With the monsoon on the verge of arrival in the next couple of weeks, Jammu MSMEs have expressed concerns over the lackadaisical attitude of the irrigation and flood control department for ignoring the damaged protection bund wall along the industrial estate.

A delegation of Association of Industries, IGC Samba led by Vijay Aggarwal met Managing Director, J&K SIDCO at Srinagar to discuss the various issues related the IGC Samba seeking immediate action by the government.

Aggarwal highlighted the issues related to the bad conditions of the roads, drains and other infrastructure causing un-ease of the unit holders.

Aggarwal also pointed the issues regarding the repair of protection bund along with the Industrial Estate which was damaged due to flash floods in the river Bansanter in September, 2014.

The unit holders suffered huge financial losses due to the damaged protection bund during floods, Aggarwal said.

“It is a matter of great concern that no action has been taken by the Irrigation & Flood Control Department for the repair of protection bund till date and we fear that in the coming rainy season the rain water may enter into the industrial area,” said the entrepreneurs.

The MSMEs urged the Industries & Commerce Minister Chander Parkash to issue necessary instructions to Managing Director J&KSIDCO for taking immediate steps for the improvement of infrastructure in the complex.

The MSMEs also urged the concerned officials to take up the matter with Sham Choudhary, Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control for immediate repair of protection bund on war footing basis to avoid any damage to the industrial units located in the complex. (KNN Bureau)
