More than 1 lakh UAMs filed in 3 months; Maharashtra has maximum no. of units filing UAM

New Delhi, Dec 21 (KNN) Within a short span of three months, more than one lakh Udyog Aadhaar Memorandums (UAMs) have been filed across the country, with the maximum number of micro units registering themselves using UAM. On one side Maharashtra has maximum number of units which have registered themselves, while on the other side Northern states like Meghalaya; Mizoram; and Sikkim has the least numbers.
 
MSME Ministry had notified the one page UAM on September 18 this year to promote ease of doing business.
 
The UAM can be filed online by individuals themselves in case they have an Aadhaar Number. However, in all exceptional cases, including those of not having an Aadhaar Number, the UAM can be filed in offline mode (i.e. on paper form), with the General Manager (GM) of the concerned District Industries Centre (DIC).
 
“Within a short time of three months, more than 100,368 UAMs have been filed in the country,” Ministry of MSME today said in a statement.
 
According to the official data, out of the 1,00,430 MSME units that registered themselves using UAM, 75,332 were micro units; 24,160 were small units; and 938 were medium units.
Maximum number of UAM were filed in Maharashtra, 23219, while Rajasthan and Gujarat were at the second and third position in terms of number of units filing UAMs.

The north eastern states had minimum number of units that registered themselves with merely 2 in Arunachal Pradesh, 6 in Assam, Meghalaya and Mizoram had 0 units while Nagaland had 2 units and Sikkim 6.

Amongst the southern states, Telangana topped the list with 9271registering themselves followed by Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. (KNN Bureau)
