MoS MSME Highlights Credit Flow For Small Firms In TN Districts

New Delhi, Jan 30 (KNN) Citing state level bankers’ committee (SLBC) reports, Minister of State for MSME Shobha Karandlaje said in Lok Sabha that credit flow for small firms in three districts of Tamil Nadu namely Kanchipuram, Ramanathapuram and Tiruvannamalai witnessed upward trend in financial year 2024-25. 

Credit Flow to MSMEs
Kanchipuram: Micro enterprises held 29,199 accounts with outstanding credit of Rs 2,265.11 crore. Small enterprises recorded 1,688 accounts worth Rs 2,212.36 crore, and medium enterprises had 332 accounts totaling Rs 883.21 crore. Including other priority sector-linked finance, the district’s total MSME credit reached Rs 5,365.53 crore across 31,296 accounts.

Ramanathapuram: Micro enterprises received Rs 551.61 crore across 16,638 accounts. Small and medium enterprises accounted for Rs 216.74 crore and Rs 82.33 crore, respectively, bringing total MSME credit to Rs 850.68 crore.

Tiruvannamalai: Micro enterprises recorded Rs 1,262.23 crore and small enterprises Rs 389.63 crore in credit, while no medium enterprise credit was reported. Including other finance, the district’s total MSME credit stood at Rs 1,702.99 crore.

Awareness and Capacity-Building
The MSME Ministry conducts regular awareness campaigns on government schemes through field offices, in coordination with state and Union Territory MSME and industry departments. Outreach is carried out via physical workshops, social media, print, and electronic media to increase stakeholder participation.

Skill Development Initiatives
Training and upskilling are provided through schemes such as the Entrepreneurship and Skill Development Programme (ESDP), Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), Skill Upgradation and Mahila Coir Yojana, SC/ST Hub, Assistance to Training Institutions (ATI), ASPIRE, and Technology Centres across the country, including in the three districts.
