MSME aerospace skilling prog started in Hyderabad by P&W

Hyderabad, Oct 27 (KNN) Pratt & Whitney (P&W), a division of United Technologies Corp, has launched an industry capability enhancement programme to support medium and small scale enterprises (SMEs) serving global aerospace majors through precision manufacturing and highly specialized engineering services from India.

P&W has special training session to its suppliers Belcan and QuEST Global Engineering Services Pvt Ltd at its Hyderabad training center from October 26 to 28, 2018.

P&W said the programme has been specially designed to help industry participants develop expertise on aircraft propulsion systems and identify ways to improve productivity while meeting quality goals, and plan for scalability, thus ensuring more efficient, reliable and cost-effective supply base.

The programme will also provide an overview on fundamentals of gas turbine engines and P&W’s quality requirements and equip potential suppliers by providing exposure to aerospace requirements and an understanding of quality requirements within their existing systems.

Amit Pathak, general manager, customer training, Pratt & Whitney India, said the company is already in talks with 20 players for training. “India is one of the fastest growing aviation markets in the world but its contribution to the $838 billion global aerospace manufacturing and MRO industry is a meager $11 billion (little over 1%).

Though the sector provides a huge opportunity for companies by way of manufacture of components, assembly operations as well as MRO services, the biggest stumbling block is the paucity of skilled talent,” Pathak said.
