New Delhi, Oct 16 (KNN) Reiterating the importance of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), Minister of State for Commerce & Industry C.R. Chaudhary said that the chambers and MSME bodies must help facilitate jobs in the small-scale industry.

Chaudhary further said that the government is committed to promote a start-up friendly ecosystem in the country and there are many schemes run by the government to support new ideas.

The office is working on ways to attain increment at four levels including production, export, investment and employment, the Minister added.

Responding to the concerns raised by the exporters pertaining to the Goods and Services Tax in the country, the Minister said that the liquidity issue and other allied problems are well in the knowledge of the GST council and there is work underway to address them.

The Minister also informed that the GST council is formulating a mechanism to enable timely refunds in order to avoid the problems the sector have faced earlier.

The Minister made these remarks during a press meet at an event hosted by Calcutta Chamber of Commerce.

Earlier, the government announced that it would immediately refund exporters for the month of July and August starting from October 10. Following a GST Council meeting, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley informed that this move can be seen as an interim relief, and the government is working out a long term measure- e-wallets to smoothen the refund procedure.
