MSME definition alteration has created new avenues of growth: PM Modi

Bengaluru, June 21 (KNN) Highlighting the importance of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the change in the definition of MSME has opened new opportunities of growth.

Marking confidence in Aatmanirbhar Bharat’, departments at central government level have been directed to make purchases of upto 25 per cent from MSMEs, he said during his visit to Bengaluru on Monday.

He laid the foundation stone for rail and road projects worth over Rs 27,000 crore in the city.

“All these projects will present new facilities and opportunities to the youth, middle class, farmers, workers and entrepreneurs of Karnataka,” said PM Modi.

Calling it a city of dreams for lakhs of youth of the country, he said that the double engine" government is working on every possible means like strengthening infrastructure like rail, road, metro, underpass and flyovers to rid Bengaluru of traffic jams.

He said that the government is committed to connecting the suburban areas of Bengaluru with better connectivity.

India’s first air-conditioned railway station Sir M Visvesvaraya Railway Station at Baiyappanahalli has also been developed on the lines of a modern airport at a cost of Rs 315 crore.  (KNN Bureau)
