MSME Dept in TN plans to set up 'Regional Startup Hubs' in tier 2-3 cities

Chennai, April 21 (KNN) To create a robust startup ecosystem in Tamil Nadu, its MSME Department is planning to set up 'Regional Startup Hubs' in tier II & III cities of the state.

The state government announced various measures to promote startup hubs across the state including setting up of Fablabs in engineering colleges.

Presenting the policy note on the sector, Anbarasan said it is crucial that authentic data is made available for taking any policy and developmental decision as one of the critical issues was the unavailability of authentic data regarding the startup ecosystem in the state.

Providing solution to this issue, the state government has decided that the Tamil Nadu Start-up and Innovation Mission (TANSIM) will engage a third-party agency or professional consultants to prepare an authentic annual data report, which will be systematically updated annually.

It will cover a comprehensive data including all information regarding startups and their stages and investments, sector-wise startups, incubators, accelerators etc. (KNN Bureau)
