Noida, July 10 (KNN) The Uttar Pradesh government has instructed the Noida, Greater Noida, and Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) to discontinue the practice of allotting industrial plots through competitive bidding.

Under the e-auction system, the highest bidder would win the plot, regardless of their background or experience. This led to concerns that large-scale businesses would be able to outbid smaller enterprises, making it difficult for the latter to expand.

According to the officials, the government believes that the current system hampers the objective of providing plots easily for new ventures as reported by Hindustan Times (HT).

The new system will be more transparent and equitable, as it will give all entrepreneurs a fair chance to secure a plot. Plots will be allocated based on a combination of factors, including the project's feasibility, the entrepreneur's experience, and the usefulness of the investment.

This decision is a welcome relief for MSME entrepreneurs, who have long been calling for a more level playing field. It is a sign that the government is committed to supporting the growth of small businesses.

The three development authorities in Gautam Budh Nagar will no longer allot industrial plots through e-auction. Instead, they will revert to the earlier system of draw of lots, interviews and background checks. (KNN Bureau)
