MSME Institutions Contributed To Chandrayaan Mission & Defence Operations: MoS Karandlaje

Bhubaneswar, Jan 6 (KNN) Union Minister of State for MSME Shobha Karandlaje on Monday highlighted the role of MSME institutions in national missions, stating that the Central Tool and Training Centre (CTTC), Bhubaneswar, supplied materials for ISRO’s Chandrayaan project, while the Mahatma Gandhi Institute for Rural Industrialisation (MGIRI) provided solar-powered battery chargers used by the armed forces during Operation Sindoor.

Addressing a gathering after reviewing ongoing activities and new projects at MGIRI, Wardha, Karandlaje said these contributions reflected the impact of the government’s ‘atmanirbharta’ (self-reliance) initiative, reported PTI.

MGIRI is a national autonomous institution under the MSME Ministry focused on strengthening village industries through science and technology.

Karandlaje said MGIRI has been instrumental in empowering village industries and generating employment by deploying appropriate technologies.

"MGIRI is playing a significant role in empowering village industries through science and technology and in generating employment opportunities across the country. It is translating Mahatma Gandhi's vision of a self-reliant India based on village industries into reality," Karandlaje said.

According to her, thousands of artisans, women, farmers, youth, khadi institutions and gaushalas are benefiting from innovations developed by the institute. She described MGIRI’s technological support to the armed forces as a source of pride.
