MSME Minister inaugurates MSME Expo, Tech Mart & Coir Pavilion

All the three pavilions were inaugurated yesterday. Speaking during the inauguration of the Coir Board Pavilion, the Minister said Indian Coir Industry carries a legacy of 150 yrs.
“A traditional industry, earlier confined to Kerala now spreads over 22 states including North East. Coir Board provides financial and technical assistance for setting up coir units and entrepreneurship development. More than 4000 units are proposed to be provided with financial assistance during 12th plan period through various schemes, he added.
Mishra expressed hope that in the coming days, coir industry will play a significant role in economic development and providing jobs to our youth.
The main theme of the MSME Expo this year is Design Intervention in MSME sector through Design Clinic scheme.
According to an official release, more than 54 participants/entrepreneurs including 34 women, from all over India are participating in the MSME Expo-2014 and exhibiting their products in more than 89 stalls. Out of 54 entrepreneurs, 4 are from the north east region, and 3 are from SC/ST.
SMEs from all over India are participating to demonstrate their quality products, skill and traditional art work. The uniqueness of this year MSME Expo is that visitors will have a chance to see products from states like Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan etc.
The Office of the DC (MSME) is facilitating the exhibitors to promote their products by providing them with subsidized stalls. The product range varies from technical products requiring high precision manufacturing to products which manifests India’s strength in traditional knowledge of Ayurveda and artwork. Special category entrepreneurs have been encouraged through enhanced subsidy.
The objective of this exhibition is to recognize the strength of India’s micro and small-scale units by showcasing the technology adopted by them in manufacturing products and also to provide a suitable platform at reasonable cost to enhance future trade and business not only domestically but also globally.
As far as the Techmart India is concerned, it is an International Technology Fair for micro, small and medium enterprises which coincides with India International Trade Fair. It is NSIC’s premier exhibition where MSMEs from all over India showcase their products and technologies. The event also provides opportunities for creating sustainable business alliances.
As many as 586 units are participating in this year’s Techmart India-2014, also comprising, SC/ST, NER and women entrepreneurs.
A technology based exhibition, it covers packing and packaging machines and products, machines and machine tools, information technology, agro and food processing machines and products, electrical and electronics products, auto components and industrial products. (KNN/ES)
