MSME Ministry aims to modernize the cottage industries: Kalraj Mishra

New Delhi, August 10 (KNN) The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises aims to modernize the cottage industries by providing the best training to the entrepreneurs through the training institutes of KVIC, Union MSME Minister Kalraj Mishra informed Parliament today.
 
Large number of items are produced under the KVI activities of KVIC, he said in a written reply to Lok Sabha here today. 
 
Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) through its 39 Multi-Disciplinary Training Centres (MDTC) is imparting skill based training to the entrepreneurs of the micro Village Industries units in the country. 
 
There are 132 training modules including 13 for Khadi, 116 for Village Industries and 03 for Marketing/ Entrepreneur Development Programme (EDP)/ External Aided Project (EAP). 
 
The duration of training under the various modules ranges from 1 week to 15 months which comprises of 97 artisans level, 15 supervisory level and 20 managerial level.  
 
In addition, Skill Development Programme (SDP) are conducted with National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD) as training partners. (KNN Bureau)
