MSME ministry, AIPMA to organise webinar on awareness to MSMEs for transition from Single Use Plastic today

New Delhi, Jul 24 (KNN) Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) in association with All India Plastics Manufacturers' Association (AIPMA) will organise a webinar on 'Awareness to MSMEs for transition from Single Use Plastic (SUP) on Saturday.

According to a pamphlet, the webinar is scheduled to be on Saturday i.e July 24th at 4 PM.

The expert speakers include Sanjeev Chawla, MSME DI, Karnal; Hiteen Bheda, Chairman, Environment Committee, AIPMA and Co-Chairman, environment committee, AIPMA.

According to a 2019-2020 report by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), which collates data from 60 major cities in Indio, the country generates around 26,000 tonnes of plastic waste a day out of which 60 per cent of plastic produced is recycled.

The Government of India  under  Swach  Bharat Abhiyan is now  focused  on  tackling plastic waste. MoEF&CC is coming up with new amendments in the Plastic Waste Management Policies to manage plastic waste of the nation effectively.

''This webinar will focus on new guidelines and amendments issued by the Government,'' the pamphlet added.

PWM 2016 is set to go through an amendment which will include a list of SUPs, some of which are likely to be phased out. Also, there is a lot of confusion about EPR and its applicability to various stakeholders of the plastic value chain. Overall compliance with PWM rules in India is still very low and this needs to be improved through creating awareness in the value chain.
