MSME Ministry Expands Technology Centres, Boosts Digital Services For Small Businesses
New Delhi, Dec 5 (KNN) The government is implementing multiple initiatives to boost technology adoption and digitalisation among small enterprises, Minister of State for MSME Shobha Karandlaje informed the Lok Sabha.
Support for Technology Upgradation
Karandlaje said schemes including the MSE Cluster Development Programme, Tool Rooms/Technology Centres, the Green Investment and Financing for Transformation Scheme (GIFT) and the MSME Champions Scheme are helping units modernise operations, improve skills and enhance product quality.
These initiatives also promote green technologies and strengthen the competitiveness of small businesses.
Digital Platforms Driving MSME Transformation
The Ministry is expanding digital services through platforms such as Udyam, MSME Champions Portal, Government e-Marketplace (GeM), Trade Receivables Discounting System (TReDS), MSME Mart, MSME SAMBANDH and the Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) system.
Together, these systems support online registration, e-procurement, receivable financing and faster digital grievance resolution.
Technology Centres Network Expanded
Karandlaje added that the government is setting up 20 new Technology Centres and 100 Extension Centres under the Technology Centres scheme to expand technical support for MSMEs.
Two centres will be established in aspirational districts, Gaya (Bihar) and Bokaro (Jharkhand).
Export Support for MSMEs
To boost exports, the Ministry has also set up 65 Export Facilitation Centres (EFCs) across its field offices, Technology Centres and Testing Centres to provide mentoring and handholding for MSME exporters.
