New Delhi, Jul 5 (KNN)  To enhance competitiveness of the micro, small and medium  enterprise (MSME) sector, the Office of the Development Commissioner of the MSME Ministry is keen to see the implementation of quality management standards and quality technology tools in the manufacturing sector.

The scheme ‘Enabling Manufacturing Sector to be competitive through Quality Management Standards/Quality Technology Tools (QMS/QTT)’ is a part of the National Manufacturing Competitiveness Programme (NMCP).

One of the major components proposed for implementation under the scheme is ‘Implementation of QMS/QTT in identified MSME clusters,’ according to an official notification.

In this context, the Office of the Development Commissioner has invited private sector participation.

As far as implementation is concerned, a group of 10 units will be formed in each cluster, wherein the QMS/QTT Counsellors will be attached, who will systematically carry out this implementation.

To begin with, a diagnostic study report for the 10 units will be prepared which will form the basis for further implementation.

The activity will be performed in 10 MSE clusters (in 10 units per cluster), namely, Pharma clusters in Hyderabad and Uttarakhand, Electronics service design and manufacturing cluster in Hyderabad, chemical clusters in Gujarat and Maharashtra, auto parts cluster in Haryana and Ludhiana (Punjab), gold and jewellery cluster in Mangalore, Food processing cluster in Solan (Himachal Pradesh), and engineering parts cluster in Punjab.  (KNN)
