MSME units filing UAM will now get an OTP on mobile linked to Aadhaar Number, need not submit bank details

New Delhi, Jan 30 (KNN) The micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), filing Udyog Aadhaar Memorandum (UAM), will now get one time password (OTP) on mobile phone linked to the Aadhaar Number of the applicant for verification of the fresh memorandum as well as amending of the existing memorandum. The entrepreneurs will now not be required to fill bank details while filing UAM.

The modifications in the UAM filing procedure has been introduced mainly based on the representations received from the state governments about the authenticity  and difficulty in tracing the  enterprises for which UAM have been filed.

According to the amendment in the UAM filing procedure, no enterprise shall file more than one memorandum.

The Ministry of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises has re-notified revised UAM notification.

In a notification, the Ministry said, “…the Central Government after undertaking a review of the implementation of Udyog Aadhaar Memorandum, hereby specifies that any micro, small and medium enterprise shall file Udyog Aadhaar Memorandum thereafter, referred to as the memorandum) in Form I appended to this notification.”

The review of the UAM  filing procedure was initiated when  many states informed the Ministry that with the waiving process of physical verification by the state industry department officials of the earlier EMs, a lrge number of superfluous, even false UAMs are being filed.

In addition to the earlier procedures now, “A 'one time password (OTP) for verification of the fresh memorandum as well as amending of the existing memorandum shall be sent on mobile phone linked to the Aadhaar Number of the applicant and the applicant shall enter the OTP in the form before submitting the memorandum.”

The memorandum shall be filed on self-certification basis and no additional document is required to be uploaded at the time of such filing: Provided that the Central Government or the State Government or such person as may be authorized in this behalf may seek documentary proof of the information provided in the memorandum, wherever necessary.

“No enterprise shall file more than one memorandum,” the notification added. (KNN Bureau)
