New Delhi, Nov 16 (KNN) The MSME units which use solar energy to meet their power needs, are likely to pay less in future as the last solar bid received by the NTPC was less than Rs 5 per unit.

High electricity tariffs have forced the industry especially SMEs shift to alternate power options like solar energy.

“People had laughed when I said solar energy prices will be below Rs.5/unit,” said Union Power Minister Piyush Goyal.

Last Solar bid received by NTPC - Rs 4.63 per unit, he added.

In the micro-blogging site twitter, he wrote, “250 million tonnes of coal washeries in pipeline. Standard design of washeries to leverage economies of scale.”

Goyal further wrote that the government has focused its efforts to provide a corruption free country and an enabling framework for the sectors like power, housing, roads etc.

“Our efforts to address structural weaknesses are paying off in terms of job creation, demand for steel, cement, infrastructure etc,” he wrote. (KNN Bureau)
