MSMEs Account for 40% of India’s Production and Exports: Shobha Karandlaje

New Delhi, Oct 11 (KNN) Union Minister of State for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Shobha Karandlaje, stated that MSMEs contribute around 40 per cent to India’s total production and exports. 

She made these remarks while inaugurating the MSME Marketing Summit in Bengaluru, co-hosted by the National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) and the Karnataka Small Scale Industries Association (KASSIA).

Karandlaje highlighted that MSMEs play a crucial role in sectors such as agriculture, food, defence, space, and artificial intelligence, contributing significantly to the government’s vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047. 

She emphasised that the government is committed to strengthening MSMEs through skill development and capacity building initiatives.

The minister announced that a world-class training centre will soon be set up in Bengaluru’s Peenya Industrial Areato enhance the skill levels of youth and women, ensuring they meet global standards. 

She added that the Skill Training Division aims to equip workers with modern, industry-ready capabilities.

Karandlaje urged entrepreneurs to adopt a Swadeshi mindset and focus on quality manufacturing, aligning with the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative. 

She said the government is improving market access for MSMEs through platforms like the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) and promoting export-oriented production.

Highlighting the link between quality and health, the minister encouraged the promotion of organic food production, noting that every Indian-made product should meet export-level standards to boost competitiveness and demand.

Her address reinforced the government’s strategy to empower MSMEs through training, innovation, and infrastructure, making them a cornerstone of India’s industrial and export growth.
