New Delhi, May 31 (KNN) With a heavy weight Cabinet Minister Nitin Gadkari assuming leadership of Ministry of MSME, the leverage of the MSME sector is expected to rise considerably in the Counil of Ministers.

The MSMEs have been enduring tough times for last few years due to a series of disruptions from demonetisation to implementation of GST to snowball effects of Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code.  The sector seems sanguine now that some of their demands may get attention they deserve.  

Appointment of Pratap Chandra Sarangi as Minister of State is also seen a hugely important development. Whidel Gadkari has a reputation of ‘non-nonsense go-getter’,  Sarangi commands enormous respect in rank and file of ruling party.   

Reacting to the development, Animesh Saxena, President of Federation of Indian Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (FISME) said, “even when everybody recognized importance of MSMEs in economy and in creation of jobs, at times our concerns take a backseat under pressure from more powerful Ministries”.  

‘With Gadkari ji and Sarangi ji, MSMEs will have greater access to top political leadership and a better say in matters that decide their fate”, he added.  

FISME is likely to meet and apprise them of the top concerns of MSMEs.
