Bangalore, Jan 6 (KNN) MSMEs in the domestic market do not have to compete like small exporters, said Anup K Pujari, Secretary, Ministry of MSME while responding to the sector's plea for extending credit on soft terms to Micro and Small Scale Industries at 8% instead of 12-13% at present.

Pujari further said that the MSMEs enjoyed 3% interest subsidy to offset soft interest terms available to their overseas competitors.

Pujari said this while speaking at the national workshop on Lean Manufacturing under Lean Manufacturing Competitiveness Scheme organized by MSME-Development Institute, Bangalore in association with National Productivity Council Bangalore and industry body KASSIA.

Lean manufacturing techniques are essentially about applying common sense to manufacturing practices, said Pujari.

A Padmanabha, Vice-President, KASSIA, requested the Secretary for release of subsidy pending under CLCSS in about 26 cases for the year 2012 and 2013 and liberalizing of NPA norms for MSMEs in view of delayed payments to them by PSUs which in turn affected their ability to pay their dues in time.

A Booklet on Lean Manufacturing under LMCS was released on the occasion. (KNN Bureau)
