MSMEs & industrial projects to generate 50 lakh jobs in West Bengal over next few years: CM Mamata Banerjee
Kolkata, Feb 24 (KNN) The Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee has said that approximately 50 lakh jobs will be generated with the help of several MSME and industrial projects over the next few years.
She had also stated that domestic industry will be prioritised in the 6th edition of Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS) which will take place on 20-21 April, 2022.
This was discussed at the State Industrial Promotional Board meeting with heads of industries and Chambers of Commerce at Nabanna.
She pressed on the importance of industrialist in the state and their coordination with industries outside the state which helps in bringing investment to West Bengal.
“Total 33 private parties have expressed interest in State-Aided Industrial Parks (SAIP) of which 12 have already been approved and the remaining are in process. This will entail a total investment of Rs 31,000 crore and 3.52 lakh job opportunities,” the CM said.
She further informed that the other upcoming major projects that will create jobs include a footwear park on 62 acres in Bantala.
To promote handicrafts, textiles and similar exclusive products of Bengal will be marketed through exhibitions. (KNN Bureau)
