New Delhi, May 29 (KNN) Keeping its election promise to promote skill development, the BJP led NDA government has created a full-fledged Ministry for Entrepreneurship to promote self-employment in the country.

Sarbananda Sonowal, an MP from the Lakhimpur constituency of Assam, has been made the Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (Independent Charge).

51-year-old Sonowal is one of the most promising leaders from Assam.

“We will take up skill development on a mission mode, at an unprecedented scale,” the BJP manifesto said.

India has a target of skilling / upskilling 500 million people in India by 2022, mainly by fostering private sector initiatives in skill development programmes and providing viability gap funding.  (KNN/SD)
