Ludhiana, Oct 18 (KNN) Stating that today Khadi is not just ‘Khadi for Nation’ but it now is ‘Khadi for Fashion’, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today distributed 500 traditional wooden charkhas to woman in Ludhiana.

While addressing the event here today, PM Modi said, “Today, Charkhas were given to women. Khadi is a priority for us. A Charkha at home brings more income.”

Urging people to use some or other kind of Khadi, PM Modi said, “Things are different today. See how well Khadi is marketed now. Earlier it was only 'Khadi for nation', now it’s also 'Khadi for fashion.”

He pointed the trend of his Government to launch the important schemes in various parts of India, not only in the capital.

“Ludhiana is an important economic centre. It is natural to launch a scheme related to MSME here. I am seeing a mini-India in front of me,” he said.

PM Modi also launched the National SC/ ST Hub and ZED scheme.

Stressing that MSME sector is crucial for the economic progress of the nation, PM Modi said, “The world market is waiting for us. No need to think- our enterprise is small.”

He further asked the MSMEs to explore the market outside India and match their quality control standards.

“A spirit of entrepreneurship among Dalits will benefit us. There are youngsters whose dreams are to create enterprises and jobs,” Modi said.

“At least 10 lakh MSME entrepreneurs should come ahead and register with the ZED QCI scheme,” PM emphasized.

Giving vote of thanks to the PM, MoS Giriraj Singh the popularity of Khadi can be well assessed by seeing that the leaders of BRICS countries were all wearing Khadi jackets earlier this week. (KNN Bureau)
