No notification of the announced incentives so far, MSMEs write to CM Mehbooba Mufti

New Delhi, Sept 27 (KNN) With repeated requests not bearing any fruit to get the official notification of the announced tax incentives under the Goods and Services Tax, the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) of Jammu and Kashmir have written again to the state Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti urging her to step in.

MSME body, Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA) in a press release informed that the non-issuance of Notifications by the State Govt. for the extension of state package of Incentives under GST Regime is already causing a lot of damage to the industry In the region.

BBIA informed that the industrial units that are mostly dependent on the sale of their products within the state and affected the most as there is uncertainty prevailing in the sector.

The association further said that each time the MSME approach the finance department, they are assured that an action down the line will be taken at the earliest.

The standard reply from the finance department has been that it is waiting for the issuance of Central Govt. Notifications” as approved by the union cabinet on 16/08/2017, whereas the State package have no link with the central Package, BBIA added.

The Industrial Sector comprising of over 70 per cent MSMEs fear that with no appropriate action in this regard, the industrial units are likely to become non-functional soon. 

Also, earlier Federation of Industries Jammu (FOIJ) raised similar concerns over the delay of the announced tax holiday package, because of which the industrial units have been effected badly. (KNN/ DA)
