Bhubaneswar, May 30 (KNN) In an effort to boost the sales of product made by micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), the state-owned Odisha Small Industries Corporation (OSIC) has launched new brand Odi -Tech (for non-food items).

The initiative has come at the behest of the state MSME department which has been exploring avenues to boost sales of products made by MSMEs within the state and outside including exports.

Odi-Tech will initially roll out agricultural and farm implements like threshers, winnowers, weeders, ploughs, cultivators and tractor trolleys, and will gradually go on to include a wider variety of industrial products.

The agricultural implements and machinery included in the brand meet top quality standards and manufactured as per design and specifications of Directorate of Agricultural and Food Production, Odisha.

This is the second brand to be launched after Odi-Food that was rolled out by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in the MSME Trade Fair 2015 held January this year.

Launching the Odi-Tech brand, MSME Minister Jogendra Behera said a common brand products promoted by a government organisation will not only provide them the much needed platform but also lend them credibility and quality assurance.

OSIC has also proposed to include cashew products, turmeric powder, chilly powder and rice produced by the tribals in KBK districts, which are in demand in the national and international markets.

The Corporation will organise these sectors and promote them through its brand. Many other technical items as well as food items shall be included gradually for marketing under Odi-Tech and Odi-Food series respectively. (KNN Bureau)
