Over 17 lakh women owned MSMEs registered on Udyam Registration Portal, says MoS Bhanu Pratap Singh

New Delhi, Aug 8 (KNN) There are 17, 96,408 Nos of women owned Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) out of the total 99, 58,903 Nos of MSMEs registered and classified on Udyam Registration Portal as of August 3.

This information was shared today by Bhanu Pratap Singh verma, Minister of State for MSMEs in the Rajya Sabha.

Since the inception of the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP),a total of 2,50,319 Nos of women entrepreneurs have been assisted as of August 2.

The MSME ministry run Credit Guarantee Scheme (CGS) for Micro & Small Enterprises as of June 30 has provided credit guarantee to total 11, 92,689 Nos of women. The government has been running Credit Guarantee Scheme (CGS) for Micro & Small Enterprises since 2000, to provide collateral free credit to Micro & Small Enterprises including women.

Under this scheme the women enterprises get 5 per cent additional guarantee coverage and 0.15 per cent additional concessions in guarantee fees for credit above Rs. 5 lakh upto Rs.50 lakh.

Verma had earlier informed the parliament that the number of women beneficiaries across major government schemes has jumped significantly from the pre-Covid period. (KNN Bureau)
