Parliamentary Committee to discuss 3042 cr outlay for MSMEs

New Delhi, March 9 (KNN)  The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Industry is to meet representatives of  MSMEs and senior officials of MSME Ministry on March 12, 2015 to discuss the budget proposals and the MSME schemes.

The Budget has proposed an outlay of Rs.  3042 crore for Ministry of MSMEs ( plan expenditure 2612 crore and non-plan 430 crore).

The Committee headed by K.C. Tyagi of Janta Dal (U) has invited MSME associations to present their views on the outlay proposed by the Budget.

The MSME outlay covers several sub-segments namely MSMEs, Khadi and Village Industries Corporation (KVIC),   Coir industries, Prime Ministers Employment Generation Programme and Provision for projects/schemes for the benefit of North Eastern Region and Sikkim.

In tandem with reduction in overall budget for MSMEs, the Union Budget has proposed a cut for MSME segment from previous budget  outlay of  Rupees 1319 crore ( revised 1044 crore) in 2014-15 to   988 crore for 2015-16.

The standing committee is also to discuss about MSME schemes and policies besides the budget proposals. (KNN/AB)
