Paytm announces $5 million investment to assist shopkeepers-retailers

New Delhi, Aug 17 (KNN) In a bid to assist the small shopkeepers and retailers, Paytm Mall, unit of Paytm, has announced investments of over 5 million dollars. The investment will be directed towards addressing the concerns of small businesses.

Under the investment, Paytm will aid the small business in fetching working capital through loans. Also the businesses will be trained to use technology to boost their sales.

Targeting at the initiative, the company has formed a team of over 500 experts that are trained to address the needs of the retailers. The team will conduct on ground surveys to look into the problems that the small businesses face. Once the survey is conducted, the team will form a roadmap to help the retailers tackle the problem that they are facing.

Also workshops are being conducted to help the small businesses go digital and expand their market base.

With the Goods and Services Tax implemented, Paytm is  providing support programs and GST training for the small businesses and retailers to ensure uninterrupted growth of the sector.

The announcement of the 5 million dollar investment comes after the collaboration between Softbank and Paytm in May earlier this year. Under the collaboration, Paytm raised 1.4 billion dollars exchanging 20 per cent of the stakes in the company. (KNN/ DA)
