New Delhi, Nov 10 (KNN) More and more people opting for a cracker free Diwali have given a tough time to the small firecracker traders who entirely depend on this time of the year for their annual sale.

With Diwali no longer delivering the big bang for cracker traders, the vendors said they are facing huge losses, more than previous years, this time.

“On one hand the cost of firecrackers have gone up by almost 15-20 per cent, while on the other hand the sale has gone down massively by almost 40 to 50 per cent,” one of the Noida based vendor said.

Some of the traders even said that despite the warnings from the government and the administration against the cheap Chinese imports, the presence of Chinese products could still be seen.

“Not only are the cheap Chinese lights, but also the idols and firecrackers being sold everywhere,” he said.

One of the cracker manufacturers from Sivakasi said that the prices had to be increased this time due to high inflation, high cost of labour and slow demands.
