PM Modi asks JITO representatives to study MSME dominated GeM market

New Delhi, May 6 (KNN) Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked the representatives of Jain International Trade Organisation (JITO) to study government run GeM e-marketplace portal where 40 lakh sellers have registered who mostly belong to the MSME sector and Self Helf Groups (SHGs).

Virtually inaugurating the ‘JITO Connect 2022' business meet he said that people trust this new system of GeM e-marketplace where the majority sellers are MSMEs as he emphasized on the mantra of ‘vocal for local’ and reducing the use of foreign goods.

He also called for reducing “slavery to foreign goods” even as Indians celebrate 75 years of Independence.

To reduce dependency on foreign products, PM Modi encouraged to find new destinations for export; create awareness about the same in local markets.

Recognising the growth of startups and expansion of unicorn club, he said India must focus on encouraging talent, trade and technology as much as possible.

The ‘JITO Connect 2022' business meet is taking place from May 6 to 8 with an aim to change the existing perception of JITO among its target audience and promote next-gen technological products, services and businesses. (KNN Bureau)
