PM Vishwakarma Initiative Strengthening Traditional Crafts, Says MSME Minister
New Delhi, Jan 19 (KNN) Union Minister for MSME, Jitan Ram Manjhi, on Monday inaugurated the PM Vishwakarma Haat 2026 organised by the Ministry of MSME at Dilli Haat, INA, New Delhi. The event was inaugurated in the presence of Minister of State for MSME and Labour & Employment, Shobha Karandlaje.
In his address, Manjhi underscored the achievements of the PM Vishwakarma Scheme and lauded the ministry for organising the exhibition, saying it offers village-level artisans an effective platform to market their products and helps connect traditional crafts with contemporary markets.
The Minister highlighted the cultural and economic importance of Vishwakarma and praised the scheme’s vision, saying the PM Vishwakarma initiative is helping artisans nationwide access markets and contribute to national development under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
Strong Participation from States and Union Territories
Shobha Karandlaje said the PM Vishwakarma initiative has made notable progress under the Prime Minister’s leadership, with over 117 artisans from across States and Union Territories participating in PM Vishwakarma Haat 2026.
She said the scheme is linking village artisans to wider, even global, markets through sustained efforts by the government and the MSME Ministry.
S.C.L. Das, Secretary, Ministry of MSME, said the PM Vishwakarma initiative embodies the vision of ‘Virasat se Vikas’, showcasing how the rich and diverse skills of Vishwakarmas are being carried forward with pride and strengthened through a robust institutional framework provided by the government.
Dr. Rajneesh, Additional Secretary and Development Commissioner at the Ministry of MSME, highlighted the successes of the PM Vishwakarma Scheme, describing Vishwakarmas as key drivers of India’s economic growth, and said the initiative is expanding market access and opportunities for artisans nationwide.
Comprehensive Benefits Under PM Vishwakarma Scheme
The Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma scheme provides end-to-end support to artisans, including a PM Vishwakarma Identity Card and Certificate, skill training with a daily stipend of Rs 500, and a toolkit incentive of up to Rs 15,000.
It also offers collateral-free loans of up to Rs 3 lakh, incentives for digital transactions, and marketing support such as branding, packaging and e-commerce facilitation.
The PM Vishwakarma Haat 2026 provides a platform to highlight the skills, craftsmanship and entrepreneurial capabilities of traditional artisans, underscoring the government’s commitment to inclusive growth and sustainable livelihoods.
