PM Vishwakarma Scheme Rollout Begins in West Bengal Following State Committee Formation

New Delhi, Jul 24 (KNN) The Ministry of MSME has begun implementing the PM Vishwakarma Scheme in West Bengal following the constitution of the State Monitoring Committee and District Implementation Committees by the West Bengal Government on May 14, 2026.

The information was provided by Union Minister of State for MSME Sushri Shobha Karandlaje in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha.

PM Vishwakarma was launched on September 17, 2023, to provide end-to-end support to artisans and craftspeople engaged in 18 traditional trades, including carpentry, pottery, goldsmithing, tailoring, masonry and fishing net making.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY), 5.82 crore loans amounting to Rs 3.55 lakh crore have been disbursed in West Bengal from April 8, 2015, to June 26, 2026.

The Ministry has also stated that 23 Host Institutes are operating in West Bengal under the Incubation Component of the MSME Innovative Scheme. Each approved idea is eligible for financial support of up to Rs 15 lakh.

Women entrepreneurs, including those based in the Sundarbans, are eligible for support under various schemes, including Udyam Registration, the Public Procurement Policy for MSEs, CGTMSE, PMEGP, PM Vishwakarma, the Procurement and Marketing Support Scheme and the Yashasvini Campaign.
