New Delhi, Sept 21 (KNN) Union MSME Minister Kalraj Mishra was all of praises for Prime Minister Narendra Modi for making a special mention about Khadi in his radio address ‘Mann Ki Baat’. Taking it to the micro blogging site twitter, he said PM’s statement on Khadi for Fashion will definitely make an impact on youth to use Khadi.

“PM @narendramodi's statement KHADI FOR FASHION will definitely make impact on youth to use Khadi,” he wrote.

Stating that various steps are being taken to promote khadi amongst youth, MSME Minister said introducing denim khadi; khadi mobile buses to increase access; and khadi exhibitions are few of the steps to make Khadi more popular.

Mishra further said, “PM's appeal to use earthen lamps and looms shows his concern towards artisans; more importantly, children will learn from us how to carry the tradition.”

He said PM’s last year appeal to buy khadi had inspired people and the sale had almost doubled.
In the 12th edition of his "Mann ki Baat" programme on All India Radio on Sunday, Modi talked about a number of issues, including those he had highlighted during the previous episodes like giving up of LPG subsidy, Swacch Bharat campaign, promotion of khadi besides pushing for greater voter participation.

Modi, while addressing the programme, again urged people to purchase khadi products. Pointing out that there would be a month-long discount on khadi products from October 2, Modi said the income from handloom and khadi sales go to the poor weavers or their widows.

"So I urge you all to give space to khadi in your homes this Diwali," the Prime Minister said.

"It gives me great pleasure to announce that khadi sales have doubled over one year," Modi added, thanking people for having responded generously to a similar appeal he made last year. (KNN Bureau)
