Puducherry to have MSME technology centre in Kalapet

Puducherry, Feb 24 (KNN) The Micro Small and Medium Enterprises Minister KH Muniyappa laid a foundation stone for MSME technology centre in Kalapet which is slated to provide high end training for industry workers in the union territory.

Addressing a function here recently Muniyappa said that the training centre will be established to have a strong manufacturing base and availability of quality tooling.  Skilled manpower, he said was indispensable.

The technology centre would support the growth of manufacturing sector in the region for design and manufacturing of tools, components and products. It would also provide skilled man power to the industry.

The minister has announced that the central government would also set up a Flavour and Fragrance Development Centre (FFDC) in Puducherry at a cost of Rs 40 crore.

The main objective of the centre was to serve, sustain and upgrade the status of farmers and industry engaged in aromatic cultivation and processing to market them both in local and global markets.  (KNN Bureau)
