New Delhi, May 8 (KNN) There has been a record increase in the sale of Khadi ever since Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed to people in his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ radio address to buy at least one Khadi garment.

Khadi Gramodhyog Bhawan had organised a special “Kurta Payjama Exhibition” on the occasion of 60th foundation day of Khadi Gramodhyog Bhawan held on 13th April, 2015. 
The total sale of Khadi Gramodyog Bhawan, for the period from 13th April to 28th April 2015 has increased over 60 per cent as compared to corresponding period of previous year. The sale of readymade garments increased by record 86 per cent, according to official release.

The purchases made by women and youth during the exhibition are remarkable and over one lakh customers purchased KVI products, the release added.

K S Rao, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Khadi Bhawan informed that to reach out and popularize khadi amongst the youth, Khadi Bhawan has arranged the display of readymade garments exclusively designed by students of National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT). 

Arun Kumar Jha, Chief Executive Officer, KVIC stated that Khadi is cool comfortable and environment friendly fabric ideal for Delhi summer.

Jha also added that keeping in view of overwhelming response of customers and considering quantum jump in the sale, Khadi Gramodhyog Bhawan is organizing another exhibition during this summer commencing from 16th May 2015 at its premier outlet at Connaught Place, New Delhi in which exclusive range of “Khadi summer collection” will be displayed and available to esteemed customers. (KNN Bureau)
