Bengaluru, Jun 19 (KNN) The Ministry for Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), with the help of Indian Institute of Science (IISc) has identified 195 projects for funding innovation initiatives to the extent of Rs 4.62 crore.

The government has identified eight sectors for entrepreneurs to explore production with low-cost investment of up to Rs. 15 lakh each, of which Rs. 9 lakh will be given by the Ministry and the balance Rs. 6 lakh will have to be funded by the entrepreneur.

“This is being done to encourage MSMEs to face global competition” said MSME Minister Kalraj Mishra in ‘MSME-Centre of Excellence’ facility inauguration programme at IISc, Bengaluru recently.

Centre of Excellence will be developing jointly, the MSME Ministry and the IISc as well.

“The centre will act as a platform for process and product design and development by identifying and providing comprehensive solutions for indigenisation and value engineering to industries,” said MSME Additional Secretary and Development Commissioner Amerandra Sinha.

Mishra said his Ministry is planning to use modern technology to facilitate the sector and this includes the ‘virtual clusters’ through use of cloud computing for which the Ministry is launching shortly the ‘Badal’ programme for MSME. (KNN Bureau)
