Safety awards for MSMEs in manufacturing

Mumbai, May 8 (KNN)  To promote occupational safety and health among micro, small and medium enterprises engaged in the manufacturing sector, the National Safety Council has instituted the NSCI Safety Awards Scheme.
 
“With a view to give national recognition to micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) for achieving meritorious performance and leadership, and encourage commitment of the management and workers in the field of occupational safety and health, the Council has instituted NSCI Safety Awards for the MSME sector separately,” an official notice said.
 
The deadline for sending in applications is May-31.
 
Besides the MSME Safety Awards, the Council has also instituted the general NSCI Safety Awards Schemes for the manufacturing sector since 1998 and construction sector since 2005.
 
Around 10 awards are to be given to the MSME sector namely – Sarvashreshtha  Suraksha Puraskar (1); Shreshtha Suraksha Puraskar (3), Suraksha Puraskar (5); and Prashansa Patra (to be decided).  While more than 5 awards will be given to winners in the general construction sector, over 30 awards will be given to winners in the general manufacturing sector.

Working in the field of occupational safety and health, NSCI was set up by the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India in 1966 as an independent, non-commercial, non-profit making and autonomous society.  Its mission is to build a national movement on safety, health and environment to prevent and mitigate loss of life, human suffering and economic losses and provide support services.
 
The Council serves a high quality resource centre for all services on safety, health and environment, providing a variety of information, communication and educational material.  It also provides a national platform for projecting views of its member on issues, facilitating sharing of latest national and international developments and the best practices in the field.  (KNN/ES)
