Jammu, Mar 25 (KNN) Until and unless the mother industries are set up in the state, schemes like Udaan or even many other schemes can't help the small industries here, said Jammu based MSMEs.

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) , chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday gave its approval for extension of time period of the Scheme “Special Industry Initiative for J&K” (SII J&K) Udaan till 2019-20. Initially the time period of Udaan was upto 2015-16.

The industries have welcomed this move and said, “Until and unless the big Government industries are not setup here, the schemes can’t give its result which they are meant for.”

Talking to KNN, the President of Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA), Lalit Mahajan said, “J&K has no big PSU here and we have been demanding for it for more than 15 years now. Schemes like Udaan can only be successful if mother industries are sets up here.”

The youth of the Jammu and Kashmir are unemployed, Government should provide them with jobs here only, he added.

Udaan provides exposure to the youth of J&K to the best of corporate India and corporate India to the rich talent pool available in the State. So far, 67 leading corporates have partnered with National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) under UDAAN with a commitment to train youth from the State covering Organized Retail, Banking, Financial Services, IT, ITES, Infrastructure, Hospitality etc., said a government press release.

Udaan is a national integration scheme with the goal to mainstream J&K youth with rest of the country. The scheme not only provides skill enhancement and job opportunity but also leads to counter – radicalization and weaning away youth of J&K from militancy. (KNN Bureau)
