Seminar on opportunities in electronics & hardware for MSMEs in W Bengal

Kolkata, Jul 22 (KNN)  With West Bengal on the threshold of becoming the next generation ‘Electronics Hubs’ there will be ample opportunities for micro, small and medium enterprises in the electronics and hardware industry.  To highlight these opportunities, a seminar will be held here.

Organised by the Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCC&I), the Seminar on opportunities for MSME Industry in Electronics and Hardware Industry in West Bengal will be held on July-25.

During the seminar, prominent policy makers from the state government will shed light not only on the Government’s initiative on the Electronics Hardware Sector but also on the measures being taken and planned for the development of the MSME sector of the state, said an official release from BCC&I.

For representatives of MSME units, it will be a great networking opportunity with very senior members of different fields, creating new avenues of business, investment and branding.

On the need for the seminar, “West Bengal has 4 per cent share in the nation’s Electronic goods output. In line with central focus on Electronics industry, the State Government is proactively creating an efficient ecosystem for prospective investors and entrepreneurs of this sector. With recommendations from two high powered committees on IT Software and Hardware new WB ICT Policy 2012 and ICT Incentive Scheme 2012 have been published where areas have already been identified and earmarked for rapid action in next few years for Hardware Sector and more than ten Software/Hardware parks are being set up in the State,” BCC&I  said.

Delegates and speakers will be able to deliberate on topics such as role of government and the opportunities of MSME in electronics and hardware sector, government schemes, financial opportunities, latest innovations and technology.

A major feature will be a B2B session in which participants from MSMEs in particular will interact with a number of customers (from PSU’s and private companies) under the same roof.

While Chairman WEBEL Hirak Sengupta will be Chief Guest at the event, the Guest of Honour will be Principal Secretary, Information Technology and Electronics, Government of West Bengal, Satish Tiwary.

Other speakers scheduled to speak on the occasion are - Chairman and Managing Director of Andrew Yule and President Bengal Chamber, Kallol Dutta; Vice President Videocon Group and Chairman – Electronics and Hardware Committee, Bengal Chamber Goutam Sengupta; Former Secretary, Non-Conventional Energy, GoWB  SP Gonchowdhury;  DGM Webel, Dev Baul;  Chairman, Flakt India and Past President, The Bengal Chamber, Aloke Mukherjea; Vice Chancellor, BESU, Ajoy Roy; President, Federation of Small and Medium Industries (FOSMI), Biswanath Bhattacharya; and Director MSME-DI, NN Debnath.
