SIDBI appoints Cluster Pulse, an economic development agency, to help Jamnagar brass parts units

The prime objective of the project is to work towards addressing the financial and non-financial issues of Jamnagar brass parts cluster.
The benefits from this project to the SME clusters are setting up of inter-linkages with other buyer clusters; plugging the demand supply gap; means to an interactive buyer seller meet; development of trust and relationship in the long run; a platform for networking with cluster members; exposure to other benchmark cluster and motivation for non-member firms to obtain the affiliation.
To execute the project, Cluster Pulse has identified five gaps in Jamnagar cluster - skill development gap, infrastructure gap, knowledge gap, credit gap and policy advocacy gap.
The project will cover aspects like energy conservation in foundry and extrusion units; lean manufacturing; quality control and quality management system; six sigma; inventory control like just-in-time; customized ERP and HR measures to be adopted in Jamnagar brass parts cluster.
The project will also work on training in areas of export and international marketing access; ancillary supplier arrangement with large industries (national and global), availability of custom-built machines and technology and access to state-of-the-art energy conservation measures.
The project is expected to bring outcome such as improvement of quality; human resource improvement that would help the working environment for the employees; benefiting the organization; reducing number of rejects (increase quality) and saving the cost of material by adopting quality control measures; reducing waste and pollution by energy conservation and environmental practices and increasing employee productivity and efficiency.
