New Delhi, May 27 (KNN) Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) has entered into a partnership with National Institute of Bank Management (NIBM) to set up an MSME Centre of Excellence in Pune.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Director of NIBM, Achintan Bhattacharya and Chief General Manager of SIDBI, D Ghosh in the presence of Chairman and Managing Director of SIDBI, Kshatrapati Shivaji and executive director of SIDBI N Raman.

The 'Centre of Excellence' will provide strong academic leadership to the field of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) financing, identify areas of research and develop and lead an appropriate research programme in the field of MSME financing.

It will address the lack of researched data for policy makers and other stakeholders associated with the sector to facilitate the availability of adequate and timely credit to MSMEs. 

It will also undertake efforts for innovating models and methods for MSME financing, provide knowledge dissemination based on national and international best practices in financing MSMEs and build the capacities of the banks around the said purposes. (KNN Bureau)
