SIDBI Signs MoU with JDIOWA to Boost MSMEs in Dabgram Industrial Park
Siliguri, Feb 8 (KNN) In a significant move to strengthen micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Jalpaiguri Dabgram Industries Owners’ Welfare Association (JDIOWA) on Friday.
The agreement, signed at the Dabgram Industrial Park, aims to provide financial and infrastructural support to local businesses.
Established in the mid-1980s, the Dabgram Industrial Park on the southern outskirts of Siliguri houses 130 MSME units.
These businesses range from manufacturing plastic products, animal fodder, paper, toys, and batteries to fruit processing, tea processing, and milk production.
The park currently employs around 5,000 workers, according to Sumit Ghosh, general secretary of JDIOWA.
SIDBI, which operates under the Union finance ministry, has initiated a nationwide scheme to address financial and infrastructural gaps faced by MSMEs.
Under its Programme for Capacity Building of BMOs (PROMO) scheme, the bank has identified 100 Business Members Organisations (BMOs) across India to assist MSME owners in accessing financial aid and government schemes.
JDIOWA has been selected as one of these BMOs, marking a major step toward improving the industrial landscape of the region. The MoU was signed by Chiranjit Mondal, assistant general manager of SIDBI, and Mohan Debnath, president of JDIOWA.
"This collaboration will help MSME owners in Dabgram avail financial assistance and necessary support for growth," said a source familiar with the initiative.
With this partnership, small businesses in the region are expected to receive the much-needed boost, further driving local employment and industrial expansion.
