SIDBI to develop PM Vishwakarma Kaushal Samman portal for artisans and craftsmen

New Delhi, June 28 (KNN) Ministry of MSME and Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) on Tuesday signed a MoU to create a portal for ‘PM Vishwakarma Kaushal Samman’ (PMVIKAS).

PM VIKAS Yojana was announced in the latest budget to identify the local traditional artisans and craftsmen who were not a part of any targeted interventions so far.

The pact was signed on the occasion of International MSME Day which was celebrated by the Ministry in the presence of Union Minister for MSME Narayan Rane along with the Union Minister of State for MSME, Bhanu Pratap Singh Verma.

The event showcased the launch of various initiatives of the Ministry of MSME, dedicated towards growth and development of MSMEs such as ‘CHAMPIONS 2.0 Portal’ and ‘Mobile App for Geo-tagging of Cluster Projects and Technology Centers’.

Further, results for 'MSME Idea Hackathon 2.0' were declared and 'MSME Idea Hackathon 3.0' for women entrepreneurs was launched.

Addressing the gathering, the Union Minister emphasized the importance of MSMEs in the country’s GDP and exports and expressed hope that MSMEs will contribute to 50% of the country’s GDP by 2030. 

He congratulated all stakeholders on the event’s success and urged everyone to take steps towards making India a USD 5 trillion economy.

Appreciating the role of Indian MSMEs in the growth of the country’s economy, MoS Bhanu Pratap Singh Verma highlighted, that since 2014, India’s GDP ranking has seen a significant jump from 10th to 5th position.

On this occasion, both the Union Ministers motivated entrepreneurs by distributing certificates to Gold and Silver ZED-certified MSMEs. During the event, 400 crore Margin Money subsidy was also released digitally to 10,075 beneficiaries of new Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) units.

The event saw signing of total 7 MoUs between various organisations for the benefit of MSMEs.  (KNN Bureau)
