New Delhi, Jan 2 (KNN)  In a bid to help stakeholders understand central sector schemes better and avail of them, the names of the schemes run through the Coir Board during the XII Plan have been renamed.

“Central Sector Schemes  being implemented by the Coir Board namely ‘Rejuvenation, Modernization and Technology Upgradation’ (REMOT) and ‘Coir Plan (General)’ Scheme, have been re-named as Coir Udyami Yojana (CUY) and Coir Vikas Yojana (CVY) respectively to make it better understood by the stakeholders,” an official release said today.
The decision was taken during a review meeting chaired by the Union Minister for MSME Kalraj Mishra.

Coir Udyami Yojana (CUY) is a credited linked subsidy scheme for the coir sector which aims to integrate and develop coir units.  The scheme provides 40 per cent as government subsidy, 55 per cent as Bank loan and 5 per cent beneficiary contribution for setting up of coir units with project cost up to Rs 10.00 lakh (revised from Rs 5.00 lakh).

Under CUY, beneficiaries will be provided marketing support assistance; and no collateral security/third party guarantee is required.  Further, there is no income ceiling for the assistance. Assistance is available to individuals, companies, self help groups, NGOs, institutions registered under Societies Registration Act, 1860, co-operative societies, joint liability groups and charitable trusts.

On the other hand under Coir Vikas Yojana (CVY) beneficiaries can avail of components such as:  Skill Upgradation and Quality Improvement and Mahila Coir Yojana – training for men and women coir workers and providing subsidized Ratts to women workers; Development of Production Infrastructure – assistance for setting up and expansion of coir units.

Further, they can receive assistance to participate in domestic fares, exhibitions; as well as international fares, exhibitions, etc.   They can also avail of welfare measures (Coir Board Coir Workers’ Group Personal Accident Insurance); and trade and industry related functional support services.

During the review meeting, Mishra also launched the mobile friendly website of the Ministry of MSME. With this launch entrepreneur friendly content can be easily accessed through any mobile and tablet.

Present on the occasion were the Minister of State for MSME, Giriraj Singh, Secretary MSME Madhav Lal and other officers of the Ministry.  (KNN/ES)
